The fundraising committee is putting together a cookbook to sell at the boutique in December. If you have favorite recipes you want to have included, send them to Pam. And, if you are willing to help collating the submissions and maybe testing some out, contact Pam as well.
The local portion of this year’s Peacemaking Offering will benefit “Homes for Heroes of Rockland County,” a not-for-profit organization that is working to build affordable housing for homeless and disabled veterans on the former Camp Shanks site in Tappan, NY. Fifty-two apartments – all handicapped accessible – are planned for the 14.5-acre site. Eight apartments have already been constructed, and were dedicated on Veteran’s Day last November. The second phase calls for 20 additional apartments to be built. You can help support this effort by giving generously to the Peacemaking Offering, through October 5th. Thank our veterans by giving them a home!
Climate change poses an enormous threat to God’s creation, and people of faith must respond. Several members of NHPC will be participating in the People’s Climate March in NYC on 9/21/14. This is an opportunity to stand with people from different faith traditions to let world leaders know we are watching as they meet in NYC to develop a plan for addressing climate change. Contact Mission Chair Laura Bidon or Pastor Lori for more information.

This phrase is also the title of a new book by Brian McLaren. (We Make the Road by Walking, New York: Jericho, 2014.) On Sunday, Sept 7, Sunday school for everyone starts up again. This year, in …Continue reading →

Vacation Bible School is just around the corner (August 4th-7th)! Once again this year, VBS is asking for donations of school supplies to benefit People to People’s “Back to School with Dignity” Program. You can help a child who might not otherwise have a successful start to the school year. Drop off donations in the Colonial Room at NHPC or bring them to VBS at Germonds Church — all basic, new school supplies are needed and greatly appreciated.
Just in time for Flag Day, our flagpole has been replaced. The previous pole went over during a winter storm, in part because we were flying a flag that was too large for conditions. Thanks to Ed, Walter, Mark, et.al. who helped in this effort. …Continue reading →
The youth group reminds the congregation to give generously to the food drive. School will be out for the summer starting in June and running until the beginning of September. Many children take advantage of the free or reduced-rate breakfast and lunch programs at their schools, and will not be able to during the summer. There is a need for summer breakfast and lunch foods such as peanut butter and …Continue reading →
