On September 11, we’ll return to our standard worship service hour at 11 AM. That means it’s time for the church’s annual “Welcome Back” luncheon! Lunch will start immediately after worship and will be held on the Great Lawn (weather permitting). Grill Master Percy Crockett will be cooking hot dogs and hamburgers, but the congregation will need to supply the side dishes, salads and desserts. There will be a signup sheet in the Colonial Room for everyone to indicate what you’ll be bringing.
We’re holding an old fashioned ice cream social and movie night at 7PM on Saturday, August 13th! Build your own sundae, then settle in at 8PM to watch “Minions,” a light-hearted movie. If the weather permits, we’ll gather on the lawn outside Murchison Hall; otherwise inside. Bring your friends and family!
New Hempstead Presbyterian Church is hosting a Musical Picnic on Saturday, June 18th, from 4pm – 7pm (or thereabouts) at Murchison Hall. We’ll start the fun with a picnic potluck dinner from 4-5pm, serving hamburgers and hot dogs hot off the grill. Please bring cold food–chips, salads, desserts–to share. After we eat, we’ll have a selection of local musicians performing. It will be a casual, social event on the north lawn, indoors if raining. Voluntary donations will be gratefully accepted! Invite your friends and family!
The Fellowship Committee invites everyone to join in an inspirational rock painting activity on Saturday, May 21st at 2pm in Murchison Hall. The idea is to paint inspirational words, phrases, pictures or designs on rocks. The painted rocks will eventually be placed around our Little Free Library (coming soon!), as small gifts for those wishing to take one. No particular artistic talent is needed for this event–an inspirational word or phrase is all that’s needed! Rocks and painting supplies will be provided.
Hallelujah! Our tradition returns! This year, we will be enjoying a Palm Sunday Potluck Luncheon. As in the past, it will be in Murchison Hall, after the Sunday morning worship service. For safety purposes, we ask you to please bring a COVERED dish to share. Volunteers will be serving the food and drinks. Join us — all are welcome!
Attention all nature lovers! On Saturday, February 26th at 1:30pm, the Fellowship Committee will present a video by conservation expert Doug Tallamy, entitled “Nature’s Best Hope.” Tallamy’s explanation of the specialized relationships among plants, insects, and animals are fascinating stories told with a good dose of humor. He encourages everyone to make a commitment to conservation, starting in your own backyard, and presents easy ways to do it.
Meet us in Murchison Hall on Saturday, February 26 at 1:30pm for the presentation. After the video, we will have time for some discussion. Snacks will also be provided. See you then!
