The local portion of this year’s Peacemaking Offering will benefit “Homes for Heroes of Rockland County,” a not-for-profit organization that is working to build affordable housing for homeless and disabled veterans on the former Camp Shanks site in Tappan, NY. Fifty-two apartments – all handicapped accessible – are planned for the 14.5-acre site. Eight apartments have already been constructed, and were dedicated on Veteran’s Day last November. The second phase calls for 20 additional apartments to be built. You can help support this effort by giving generously to the Peacemaking Offering, through October 5th. Thank our veterans by giving them a home!
