Our “Feed the Hungry…Feed the Soul” Special Lenten Offering will benefit the Presbyterian Hunger Program and People to People, Rockland County’s largest food pantry. The single mother…the senior citizen…the veteran…your neighbor…someone you know may need assistance providing food for themselves and their family. Please give to this Special Offering, now through Easter 2015. Contact Laura Bidon to find out more.

To help make the holidays a little bit brighter (and warmer) for homeless men and women in Rockland County, we’re having a sock drive! Drop off your donation of NEW warm socks in the Colonial Room by Sunday, December 21st, 2014, and they’ll be delivered to the men and women of Helping Hands in time for Christmas!
The local portion of this year’s Peacemaking Offering will benefit “Homes for Heroes of Rockland County,” a not-for-profit organization that is working to build affordable housing for homeless and disabled veterans on the former Camp Shanks site in Tappan, NY. Fifty-two apartments – all handicapped accessible – are planned for the 14.5-acre site. Eight apartments have already been constructed, and were dedicated on Veteran’s Day last November. The second phase calls for 20 additional apartments to be built. You can help support this effort by giving generously to the Peacemaking Offering, through October 5th. Thank our veterans by giving them a home!
Climate change poses an enormous threat to God’s creation, and people of faith must respond. Several members of NHPC will be participating in the People’s Climate March in NYC on 9/21/14. This is an opportunity to stand with people from different faith traditions to let world leaders know we are watching as they meet in NYC to develop a plan for addressing climate change. Contact Mission Chair Laura Bidon or Pastor Lori for more information.
Vacation Bible School is just around the corner (August 4th-7th)! Once again this year, VBS is asking for donations of school supplies to benefit People to People’s “Back to School with Dignity” Program. You can help a child who might not otherwise have a successful start to the school year. Drop off donations in the Colonial Room at NHPC or bring them to VBS at Germonds Church — all basic, new school supplies are needed and greatly appreciated.
